OBMS student participates in Duffield’s Heritage Museum Day

Duffield Elementary celebrated Heritage Museum Day, organized by the school’s ENL department. Current and former students as well as community members came together to share traditions, stories, music and artifacts from cultures around the world, including Australia, Ireland, Pakistan, Italy, countries across Asia, the Americas and beyond.
In the gym, interactive booths offered facts, hands-on activities and engaging displays representing many different countries. Meanwhile, in classrooms, students had the opportunity to hear presentations, highlighting the unique customs, histories and heritage of specific countries.
A special highlight of the event was Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School student Nedgi Felix, who visited several classrooms to share her own presentation about the rich customs, history and heritage of her home country, Haiti. Nedgi’s participation brought an inspiring middle school perspective to the celebration and connected students across grade levels in embracing cultural diversity.
